Let’s talk a little about shein.com, shall we? I started ordering from them about 2 or so years ago. I researched them a bit and decided, what the hay. I’ll give them a go. The prices were just too insane not to try! This is also why everyone seems to be skeptical. I’ve had this conversation soo many times. > Friend: “I love your shirt! Where’d you get it??” Me: Thanks girl! I ordered it from Shein!” Friend: “Oh yea? I have gone to their website a ton, but I hear it’s too good to be true and that people don’t receive their orders.” #1) I currently have the clothing on my body, so I did, indeed receive my order. #2) You just said how much you liked it and was able to witness the clothing with your own eyes. Sooo…it’s not too good to be true. I understand why people may think that though and that’s why I’m writing this post. To break the stigma! Here are a few tips for you guys.
1. Read reviews on EVERYTHING.
The way to make the most out of your Shein purchases is to be sure to read the reviews! Just because you are usually a strict medium in tops does not mean you will be a medium with Shein. Everything runs and fits differently, but from what I have noticed is that the reviews are always pretty spot on and super helpful. I suggest reading at least 5 or 6 reviews. I am one of those people who will read at least 10 or 15 and then see if there are any pictures available from people who ordered, just to make sure.
2. Adjust your expectations.
The pieces you order from Shein are not going to be staple pieces in your wardrobe. You need to know that before ordering. If you are used to buying $40 tops from Nordstrom and then expect the $6 top from Shein to be the same quality, you are going to be let down big time. I will order “trendy” pieces or pieces that I just want to try out, mainly because they probably won’t be “the thing” this time next year or I want to see how it looks on me before I pay the big bucks. Also remember that Shein can always be a hit or miss. Again, there is a reason you are paying $6 for a top.
3. Order at least 2 weeks in advance.
I’m sure you have heard horror stories of people never getting their package or it takes forever to arrive. I’m sure that has happened, just like it has happened with other clothing distributors. Since this post is of my opinion, I am here to say that every time I have ordered from Shein I have received my order within a 1-2-week time span. With that being said, they are not Amazon Prime. You will not receive your order in 2 days no matter where you are located. Shein is based out of China (gasp!) so your order will take longer than other distributors in the US. Example: If you are looking for bathing suits on Shein for your upcoming vacation in a week, I would suggest ordering one elsewhere. There is a slight chance it will arrive in that amount of time. If you don’t have a time frame, you should be good to go!
4. Stick to the basics.
Again, this is just my opinion…but I like to stick to the basics when I shop here. Tops, skirts, dresses and accessories. This will be different for everyone. I am suuuuper picky when it comes to the way my jeans fit and feel. There are only a few places I can order denim and know I wont have a problem once they arrive. As for shoes, I’m a total shoe snob, so I haven’t ordered any from Shein. I’m not even going to deny that one. Now, I have ordered a swimsuit from Shein before. It was actually great quality! I just have a little too much cushion in the back and I needed a little more coverage. But I have heard several people say they ordered swimsuits from them and loved them! If we are talking accessories, I probably have 4 pairs of sunglasses, 2 hair wraps, 6 headbands, 5 pair of no show socks and 3 bracelets from them so far. All great quality!
I hope this post cleared a few things up about Shein for you! Feel free to comment or message me with any questions. I love helping and making new friends! Here are a few of my recent Shein purchases. I’ve attached clickable links (light pink words) under each picture if you want to shop!
