Baby beach essentials

We recently took a family vacation to Orange Beach, AL. This is our go to beach, not packed and so family friendly. This was Si man’s first beach vacation and our first beach vacation with a baby! Let me tell ya, it was a loooot of work. Don’t get me wrong, we had a ton of fun! But by the end of the week we were exhausted. You know how it goes…you need a vacation from your vacation. Yea, I now know why people say it. Since this was our first baby beach vacay we learned a lot! So I want to help a few new mommas out by listing a few of our favorite beach items we found extremely helpful!

Baby swimwear:

Si is outside all of the time, but I had to be extra cautious of his skin while on the beach. These little swimmers not only covered the majority of his body but had SPF built right in. How awesome! We also had a few two pieces.

Swim diapers are a MUST. We used the Pampers Splashers. I’m sure other brands would be just as good, these are just the ones we chose to go with. We also packed quiet a few just in case of accidents! Trust me, they happen. And on the very first day in our case…

We had a few different sun hats for Si. A couple had SPF built in and one didn’t. Both types kept the sun off his face, the struggle was keeping it on his head! Some of you may know that when it comes to putting anything on a 9 month olds head or face, it is dang near impossible.

Speaking of impossible to keep on, we had a pair of sunglasses for Si as well. We ended up using a sunhat the majority of the time because, like I said, he would NOT keep them on! They ended up being a decent chew toy though. 😉

Baby protection:

Si’s skin has never been sensitive. He has seemed to react well with every lotion/paste/powder/etc. Up until we went to the beach he had not needed much sunscreen. So when I went looking I wanted to find what would work best on babies skin! I had heard tons of great reviews on Babyganics products, so that’s what I went with. We used the mineral based sunscreen and sunscreen lotion. We also used Coppertone waterbabies face stick. This stick was wonderful and saved a ton of time!

I was sure to find a beach bag with several pockets to pack all of the sunscreen. And snacks of course!

Baby gear:

I wanted to find a pop-up tent for the beach for Si to play in. This one is great and keeps your little one cool as well! Si ended up taking naps in his so that was a plus!

This portable high chair by Ciao has come in handy WAY more times than just the beach. This is one thing I would recommend to all mommas. It folds up and stores just like a ball chair. So convenient! It also comes in several colors and patterns! We have the grey checkered just to be neutral (never know what baby #2 will be) but there are brighter colors as well!

This wagon is another thing that has came in handy multiple times. As for the beach, you can literally load up everything you need for your beach day, along with your baby, and still have room. This wagon is so roomy and Si loved(s) riding around in it!

Having a small clip fan is a wonderful idea when it comes to having a baby at the beach. Or just for yourself.. 😉 This can clip onto the pop-up tent I mentioned above, onto a beach chair or you could hold it. Just a little extra something to keep everyone cool!

Toys are a MUST when traveling with kids of any age. Since Si is just a baby (and only really cared about eating sand) we didn’t have to pack too many, but we still had a few fun beach toys for him! This is a good set to get for the beach. Not too pricey and it comes with everything they would need!

I hope this helped you mommas out there looking forward to a trip with your little’s! Here are a few pictures of our latest trip 🙂 Follow along with my little family by following @Peyyriley_, I love making new friends!

xoxo Pey

Such a great list!! Our toddler isn’t a fan of sand quite yet (like screaming and crying if she touches it haha) so we haven’t done a beach day haha but she loves the pool and we take a good majority of these items with us when we go 🙂 hoping we can do a beach day by the end of the summer!
